Now Saving: Uneventful.

Very little done. Worked on SrnSoftEng project for Team No Contest. Worked on a new fic that will be revealed later. Currently at 245 words of 500 minimum. New MLPFiM episode was adorable but forgettable. <- Sums up my day fairly well

Now Saving: Four Hours

Tweaked The Seas Have Eyes. Now it uses the rigid body and forces to move around rather than forced translations.

The Web Team is looking for new workers. I got excited about it, and then realized I’d be graduating about the time I could get hired, and I probably wouldn’t be able to afford to continue staying in this area.

Now Saving: When the Mind Goes Wandering.

I’ve got the A-OK to write my part in a collaborative fic based on a certain thing. So I’ll have to get on that in short time. Probably not hard to guess what I’ll be writing, given all the stuff I’ve been drawing.

Also there were balloons to decorate an event thingy today! Though when I was on my way back to my room, they had already done cleanup and thrown away most of them. I saw the strings hanging out of the trash bin. Though there was one balloon on the ceiling. I wanted to take it with me, but I don’t think I’d have been able to get it on the bus very easily.  Mind went wandering and I started thinking about all the things that might have been done with them that I could have caught on video had I just been in the right place at the right time. I nearly fell down the stairs for staring. Still. Distracting fantasies are preferable to the phobia.

And uh. Aside from that, a fairly average kind of rote day of classes.

Finally got in contact with the third member of the team and they have the player controls and it is SO NICE to see that in action. It’s still on me to get the units doing interesting stuff.

Tomorrow’s plan: The Seas Have Eyes, Stable 45, and hopefully write the fic I was talking about. In addition, I need to complete the TSPi Simulator spreadsheet and the SE Sim Game.

Now Saving: Oculus Rift is Freaking Cool

Instead of calling these things ‘Daily’- which they’re not- I’m going to call them Now Saving. Because it’s basically me saving my game before I go to bed. You know. Just in case.  But sometimes I forget to save.

PnP day today was Keras’s final day. Session started with the character exploding, and then EVERYONE PASSED OUT the end. (More was supposed to happen, but the GM’s internet was flakey for the whole six hour stretch. So after passing out due to gas,  nothing else really happened. I feel kinda bad. Keras’s player didn’t get to do anything in their last day, and whatever happens next will probably be a sad, mourning type thingy that my character will be completely useless for.)

Class: HOLY CRAP I GOT TO USE THE OCULUS RIFT FOR MY FIRST TIME! It was pretty neat, especially with how well the head tracking worked with Minecraft and the Unity demo.  However, while I was free to look around, I was not in control of the controller for the games we were trying, and I found that I kept losing my sense of balance constantly while looking around.

GamesII: Cleared up the permissions error. While the BlueHuskyStudios subgroup had me assigned properly, that subgroup did not have access permissions for writing. Now that that’s fixed, I’ll have to push my updates to it. Maybe tonight. I merged the pull request I tried to send earlier just now, so my updates are now in the master. I still don’t 100% get what I’m doing with Github, but some of these tools are incredibly convenient. It’d be nice if we can put Oculus Rift support into The Seas Have Eyes. Next up: Make item pickups work.

SSE: Helped a teammate fix a problem where they were unable to sync with the group version of the project.  Most of that discussion can be seen here. He’s made a workable camera, and now it’s on me to make the units do what they should. Just added third team member to the group, so soon he’ll bring in his controller and we should be all set up to play a game. Or. Something.

Stable 45:  Did some art to help figure out how I’ll lay out the website. Struggled with it. You can browse them on by clicking here. Stable 45 at its core is about ponies that love fun. Though I think waaaaay far into overkill with the hexagon tiled floor. Might be nice for a recreation room, but I think I’m either going to use white square tiles for bedrooms and normal floors, or just stick with the setting-standard metal flooring and walls, but compensate with decorative holograms and robots. Infinite supplies. Limited Space. That’s one thing I’ll have to remember for everything I add, though.

Daily: What Napkins and Tacos Have In Common

Was distracted by saucy things most of the morning. Went to eat breakfast via 11:20 AM bus. Made the mistake of eating a cinnamon bun. Felt awful until around 4PM. Took bus at 4:50PM for dinner. I ate so many tacos. It was freaking tasty. Had gas afterwards though.

Had about an hour or two of time taking up trying to handle recent drama that surfaced on the IRC.  Played hours of Awesomenauts from around 7PM – 11PM. Got a message about the Games II project. Flailed around for an hour to manually merge my old project with the empty project my partner created. Finally figured out how to use powershell enough to find out I simply didn’t have write permissions  for the repo. Forked the repo to my own account, cloned, pushed my commit, and sent a pull request. With any luck, that should get merged tomorrow morning. I like the idea of Github, but I clearly have a bunch more to learn about it.

So… NAPKINS. Sometimes when I’m eating lunch, I’ll start having idle thoughts or whatever. Typically, there might be a napkin nearby and a pen in my pocket, so sometimes I’ll just grab a napkin to jot a note for later and then stuff that in a pocket. Often, the napkins don’t make it back to my room without me accidentally discarding them, but sometimes they do make it back.

This one is a few days late. I think my reasoning behind this is that the variety of still-active gadgetry and robotics that MoM might have been partly involved with during the war is largely still going during the age of the wasteland. What would those be called? Remanants? Reavers? Mavericks? Faults? (I kinda like Fault, because of a mindset that came with the following line of thought:)

At some point I was thinking like ‘What if there was somepony, either some descendant of an MoM official or a magically still-around (think FoE Ghouls or FoEPE Ghosts) who made it a job of theirs to track down old projects they were involved with and shut them down / recollect them / repair them? Because of the changed scenario after the unanticipated scenario of the war being lost, a variety of mid-war technology behaves erratically and is often hostile. So there might be times where it’s safer or best for the wastelands that the seeking pony to destroy things instead of do whatever else they had set out to do, possibly permanently preventing their goal. Like for example, if each robot contains records of all network nodes connected to in a timeframe, then they might be following connection logs of bots to map out Equestria or generally find their way through the things they’ve created. And thus, if these malfunctioning faulty things are that pony’s fault, then they could be out to make up for ‘their fault’ and stuff. Or. Something.

This note was from earlier in the day, when I was thinking on the FoE fics I’ve read with young protagonists. I started to wonder what the perception of the world would look like through a pony if they were infact still in the mindset and realm of a Saturday morning cartoon (which came to mind due to the most recent chapter of FoE Second Wind.)

The bottom portion of that same napkin was some idle thoughts on an idea: What if ethical steps taken to make sure “Artificial Intelligence” in Equestria doesn’t morph to become a superior being to ponies while also not becoming some particularly abused suffering slave-like entity. So if one super smart smartypants matrix-talisman-spell-weaving unicorn releases the source incantation for a part-of-the-way-there type of almost sentient-AI while trying to live up to all of the standards and expectations of his usual peers had their project picked up by a young developer  who ‘fix’ed it into a very much sentient form by removing code that existed solely for facilitating ethical behavior from the software, what would happen?

Also, I started reading Fallout: Equestria – The Hooves of Fate. It’s deceptively cute for its premise, and addresses pre-war pony views on the idea of war and the violence of the wastelands.  Good fun.

I was planning to write a resume tonight. I guess I’m gonna have to do it in the morning. One way or another, it needs to be done very soon.

Re: “How Did Your Day Go?”

So-so. Drew some stuff. Got some art I paid for a while back. Washed clothes. Completed and submitted a homework assignment detailing my ‘ultimate multimate creating system’ (more than 30% of my choises were directly based on Large Pixel Collider), and played +1h of Awesomenauts.‏

I also finally got the video of my robot online, but now I feel less proud and more reluctant to share it. :B But it’s there!‏

Also spent an hour of time going through a chapter of a fanfic, highlighting sections of interest, and then leaving comments on everything I highlighted. Did it in Google Docs. Not sure that was an upgrade from copy-paste quoting, though.‏

Accidentally uploaded some old songs I made into Google Play Music. :S Which kinda makes me miss trying to make music and stuff, but I seldom feel the patience for it.
FoE PH Reread Progress
48 – Inferno: Blackjack confirmed for Nightmare Moon but doesn’t believe it. Rampage goes crazy, kills herself, comes back to life. Lacunae dies. Mister Shears dies.  Huge boss battles while on fire. Blackjack’s ‘guardian angel’ shows up again. BJ Dies. Again
49 – Consequence: Star-vision version of the Everafter. BJ and co start the long, crazy adventure back to Chapel. B-Team is disbanded.  Stygius, Yellowpony, Xanth Carrion, Spoon, Snails, and all other newbies depart.
50 – Selfishness: Fallen Glory requires BDSM in her relationship. Also, rainbow kicks of pain, and more information about Scotch Tape’s sexuality.
51 – A Good Day: In which BJ attempts a lot of things and most of it works out OK. Some people still get hurt or die, but for Hoofington standards, it’s a pleasant day.

I was gonna upload videos of my robot from class, but had trouble uploading.

Went to classes. Did FoE IRC chatting. Bought new Umbrella, Gloves, and new 8GB flashdrive.  Installed Windows 8.1 on my ASUS EP121 .

Possibly sick. Runny nose and sore throat all day long.

Daily: Third PnP

An older doodle I forgot to post.
An older doodle I forgot to post.

Horrible weather. My umbrella exploded. (Funny story.) Went to Games II. Bought noms. Worked on SSE team project and committed new update to Github. FoE PnP. (+4 hours spent attacking a small Raider base thingy and then a plot device exploded.)
